Biography of Howard Shore

Howard Shore is a Canadian composer and actor, best known for his work as a film composer. He has composed music for numerous Hollywood films, but he is most famous for his soundtracks for Peter Jackson's "The Lord of the Rings" trilogy and Jonathan Demme's "The Silence of the Lambs". Shore is a recipient of the Academy Award, Grammy Award, and Golden Globe.

Early Life and Career

Howard Shore, an ethnic Jew, was born on October 18, 1946, in Toronto, Canada. He graduated from Berklee College of Music in Boston. In the early 1970s, he was a saxophonist for the progressive rock band Lighthouse. After leaving the band, Shore composed music for illusionist Doug Henning's show "Spellbound". In 1975, he became a director and one of the founders of the famous comedy show "Saturday Night Live" on NBC. Shore rarely appeared on screen but occasionally participated in comedic musical numbers.
